What was/were the goals of your STSM:
The proposed work is within the topics and objectives of COST Action CA2121 on mechanics of materials at the nano level. Here, we will focus on nanotribological testing of TiO2 films with different characteristics deposited by different techniques (anodization, EPD) on Ti6Al4V used as dental implant material. The specific aims and objectives of STSM are as follows:
– To carry out AFM-based characterization of TiO2 film
– To investigate the nanoscale wear behavior of the films under environmental conditions close to their applications (dentistry)
Did the STSM help your research? In what way(s)?
Yes, the STSM significantly contributed to my research by providing access to experimental facilities and instruments that are not available at my home institution. I had the opportunity to collaborate closely with experts in my field, which helped me gain new perspectives. I improved my technical skills (characterization techniques and microscratch test). It also gave me insights into how to frame my research in a more interdisciplinary/international context.
Would you recommend others to apply for an STSM?
Yes, without a doubt. I highly recommend it. It is a special chance to develop collaborations and professional networks. Researchers may accelerate up their work, expand their scientific perspectives and pick up new skills. Additionally, it supports personal growth by improving confidence when presenting and debating findings in an international community.
Both senior academics who wish to investigate new relationships and early-career researchers benefit from the experience.
