Join MecaNano at the DPG Meeting of the Condensed Matter Section 2026 in Dresden!

March 8–13, 2026 in Dresden, Germany

Abstract submission is open until December 1, 2025 here.

We’re excited to announce the topical session:
Advanced Nanomechanics – Accelerating Materials Physics from the Bottom

About the session:
Recent breakthroughs in nanomechanics and micromechanics are transforming how we understand and design materials. Combining in-situ deformation testing in TEMs and SEMs with high-throughput characterization and multi-scale simulations enables unprecedented insights into mechanical behavior—from the nanoscale to application-relevant conditions. This session will highlight state-of-the-art experimental and computational methods that accelerate materials discovery and optimization.

Expect discussions on:
Advanced in-situ and operando testing, High-throughput screening strategies, Multi-scale simulations, Pathways toward accelerated, data-driven materials design

Invited Speakers:
• Ralph Spolenak (ETH Zürich)
• Ruth Schwaiger (Forschungszentrum Jülich)
• Michael Wurmshuber (FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg)
• Subin Lee (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology)

Organizers:
Verena Maier-Kiener (Montanuniversität Leoben), Mathias Göken (FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg), Christoph Kirchlechner (KIT), Svetlana Korneychuk (KIT)
