DPG Meeting of the Condensed Matter Section 2026 in Dresden!

March 8, 2026 - March 13, 2026

Abstract submission is open until December 1, 2025

We’re excited to announce the topical session:
Advanced Nanomechanics – Accelerating Materials Physics from the Bottom

About the session:
Recent breakthroughs in nanomechanics and micromechanics are transforming how we understand and design materials. Combining in-situ deformation testing in TEMs and SEMs with high-throughput characterization and multi-scale simulations enables unprecedented insights into mechanical behavior—from the nanoscale to application-relevant conditions. This session will highlight state-of-the-art experimental and computational methods that accelerate materials discovery and optimization.

Expect discussions on:
Advanced in-situ and operando testing, High-throughput screening strategies, Multi-scale simulations, Pathways toward accelerated, data-driven materials design

Invited Speakers:
• Ralph Spolenak (ETH Zürich)
• Ruth Schwaiger (Forschungszentrum Jülich)
• Michael Wurmshuber (FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg)
• Subin Lee (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology)

Organizers:
Verena Maier-Kiener (Montanuniversität Leoben), Mathias Göken (FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg), Christoph Kirchlechner (KIT), Svetlana Korneychuk (KIT)

Don’t miss the chance to share your latest research and connect with experts shaping the future of nanomechanical testing and materials design!
